“At first, I was afraid because I thought I might have an STI. I didn’t feel comfortable telling anyone, so I turned to Google and looked for safe testing options. That’s when I found the Happy Life Call Centre number and decided to call. They were very kind and non-judgmental. I felt supported and was guided clearly through the next steps. I went for testing and found out that I was not infected. I still remember how they helped calm my fears, clear my mind, and support me throughout the process. I am truly grateful for their service and would recommend the Happy Life Call Centre to anyone in Sri Lanka who needs guidance and support.”

“Even though there was some initial opposition from society because it deals with family planning, later, when people saw the social service provided through this centre, they changed their views. Pregnant mothers greatly benefit from this. It would be valuable if these services could be expanded further. Furthermore, awareness about sexually transmitted diseases/HIV should be increased. For instance, the BOI zone can be considered as a location for a centre. In such free trade and investment zones, because people live far away from their families, illicit relationships occur. This leads to legal and social/family problems.”
BOI representative, Wathupitiwala“We’ve been working with FPA for over five years, with my own involvement spanning the past three and a half. At MAS, we place strong emphasis on social sustainability, which is why FPA’s work is well-recognized and accepted across the organization. Through this partnership, we’ve been able to provide essential services like medical check-ups and counselling, making a meaningful difference in our employees’ well-being”

“I have been receiving services from FPA since the birth of my child in 2014. In 2019, after becoming the Executive Director of the Abhimani Women’s Collective, I had the opportunity to work more closely with FPA.
The knowledge and awareness provided by FPA to female sex workers, including myself, on cervical cancer and PAP screenings, breast cancer, family planning, and reproductive health have contributed to a reduction in HIV reactive cases among female sex workers in the Colombo District. This is a significant achievement.
FPA staff treat us with sensitivity and respect, which has built strong trust within our community. As a result, our community is very willing to engage with FPA and access its services.”

“Heart to Heart Community Organization is proud of its long partnership with FPA Sri Lanka.
With FPA’s support, we have reached people in hard-to-reach and challenging settings through mobile clinics, PrEP community clinics, night clinics, using FPA vehicles places where services are limited. We were able to take services closer to the community, making access easy, safe, and respectful. This partnership has helped us build trust among different levels of people and improve service delivery. With continued support, we can reach more communities, create impact where it is needed most.”

Women community leader – Dambana“19 May 2025 marked a turning point in my life. The five-day SRHR Training of Trainers workshop by FPA transformed my knowledge, confidence, and purpose. As youth from districts with limited access to sexual and reproductive health education, we experienced a powerful shift in understanding. Supportive facilitators and engaging sessions made it empowering. Importantly, we were given a pathway to share knowledge with our communities, ensuring wider impact. The certificate we received is a valuable investment for our future.”
Dinidu Panduka – Assistant Secretary, Youth Network for Health – Puttalam“Even though I couldn’t stay for the entire duration of the programme, I came and observed at different times. The children have developed good attitudes because of the programme. If we talk about the programme and the FPA, after the sessions, the children are showing good skills. The service we received through counselling is extremely valuable. Even though it was something external, the children really liked it. The programme is effective”

“Watching the drama felt like someone was finally saying out loud what many of us have lived through but never spoken about. It made me feel seen and gave me the courage to think differently about what’s acceptable. I’m grateful we had this experience at our own workplace.”
“It made me think differently about gender-based violence. The message was clear and the acting was strong I liked that the issue of GBV was discussed openly. It’s a sensitive topic, but the drama made it easy to understand.”

“As an employee of MAS Vidiyal, I’m sure that I will share the knowledge not only among workers who are working with us, but also in the community we are working in.”
